I didn’t know that anyone but me had read Zinsser’s book without being a student! Full disclosure: I still haven’t finished it - the self-praise has indeed gotten in the way!
I bought it years ago at a secondhand bookstore and finally read it recently because I switched into different editing (and a new team of writers to coach) this past year. I did enjoy it, but the examples generally aged worse than the principles.
